Hari Ginjal Sedunia

World Kidney Day is celebrated every Thursday in the second week of every year, which this year falls on March 9 2023. World Kidney Day 2023 has the theme 'Kidney Health for All: Preparing for the unexpected, supporting the vulnerable!' This theme was raised to highlight the importance of preparing an emergency preparedness plan for people with kidney disease.

In Indonesia, chronic kidney disease is the 10th highest cause of death and the 4th largest cause of catastrophic disease. The kidneys are a part of the body that plays an important role. This organ functions to remove metabolic waste in the body. These metabolic wastes are then excreted through urine. Apart from that, the kidneys also function as a regulator of fluid balance, for example when the air temperature is cold the body will urinate more often, but if the air temperature is hot the body will feel dehydrated.

Let's prevent kidney disease with a healthy lifestyle and SMART behavior:

C: Check or check your health regularly

E: Get rid of cigarette smoke. Both passive smokers and active smokers are at risk of developing pulmonary heart disease which can cause an increased burden on the kidneys

R: Diligent physical activity. Do measured and scheduled exercise for at least 15 minutes per day or 90 minutes a week

D: Healthy diet with balanced calories. Consume balanced nutritional sources and limit consumption of instant foods, high in salt, sugar and oil. By adjusting your diet you can also maintain an ideal body weight.

I: Get enough rest. Minimum 6-8 hours a day

K: Manage stress. Excessive stress can increase chronic inflammation

Healthy Greetings....
